Dental Tourism in Romania — Frequently Asked Questions

Thinking about travelling to Romania for dental treatment usually comes with a lot of questions. Here are honest answers to the ones patients ask us most. If yours is not covered, get in touch and we will answer it directly.

Safety and quality

Is it safe to get dental treatment in Romania?

Yes. Romania has a long tradition of dental and medical training, and the clinics we partner with use modern equipment, strict sterilisation protocols and up-to-date techniques. Digital imaging, microscope endodontics and in-house laboratory work are all standard. Tens of thousands of Western European patients travel to Romania for dental care every year.

Are Romanian dentists well qualified?

Romanian dentists complete several years of university training and clinical practice, similar to their counterparts across the EU. The specialists we work with have particular experience in implantology, with more than 10 years of expertise in complex implant cases. We collaborate with modern clinics and specialised doctors who use current technology and techniques.

Is the quality as good as at home?

The materials and methods are the same ones used across Western Europe: the same implant systems, the same zirconia crowns, the same digital planning. What changes is the price, not the standard. Lower Romanian operating costs, not shortcuts, are the reason treatment costs less here.

What technology do the clinics use?

Our partner clinics use digital imaging that reduces radiation by up to 90% compared with older methods, microscope-assisted endodontics to save natural teeth, and digital smile planning. They also have an in-house dental laboratory, so restorations are made on site with close control over precision and aesthetics.

What if something goes wrong after I fly home?

Aftercare matters, and we take it seriously. Before you travel we make sure your treatment is at a stable point for the journey home, and we stay reachable for questions once you are back. For anything that needs hands-on attention, a return visit can be arranged.

Treatments and timing

How long do dental implants take?

It depends on the case. For full-arch treatment with All-on-4 or All-on-6, our partner clinics can provide fixed teeth or dentures within 24 hours of implant placement, thanks to the in-house laboratory. Traditional implants often follow a two-stage path: placement on one visit, then the final crown after healing, usually a few months later. We will tell you which applies to you before you book.

Can I really get teeth in 24 hours?

For suitable full-arch implant cases, yes. Because the laboratory is on site, a fixed set of teeth can be ready within 24 hours of surgery. Whether you are a candidate depends on your bone and general health, which we assess from your X-ray and consultation.

How many trips will I need?

Some treatments are completed in a single visit. Others, especially implant cases that need a healing period, are best done across two trips. We plan this with you in advance so you can arrange travel with confidence.

What treatments do you offer?

Our partner clinics cover the full range: full-mouth implants (All-on-4 and All-on-6), general implantology, microscope endodontics, oral surgery including extractions and bone grafting, orthodontics for children and adults, prophylaxis and cleanings, and dental aesthetics such as whitening, veneers and zirconia crowns. See the full list on our services page.

Can you fix a full mouth of missing or damaged teeth?

Yes. This is one of the clinics' strengths. Full-arch rehabilitation with All-on-4 or All-on-6 gives you a fixed, natural-looking set of teeth, often within a single trip. Send your X-ray and we will outline what is possible in your case.

Do you offer veneers?

Yes. The clinics provide dental aesthetics including veneers and translucent zirconia restorations, matched to the shape and shade of your natural teeth. Veneers are a good option for improving the look of front teeth that are chipped, stained or unevenly spaced.

Will treatment be painful?

Modern dentistry is very good at keeping you comfortable. Treatments are carried out under local anaesthetic, and the clinical teams are experienced in gentle care and managing anxiety. Any post-treatment soreness is usually mild and manageable with standard pain relief. Tell us if you are nervous and we will make sure you are looked after.

How do I know which treatment I need?

You do not have to work that out on your own. Send us a recent X-ray and a note about what is bothering you, and our team will prepare a personalised treatment plan explaining what is recommended and why.

Getting a quote and X-rays

How do I get a price?

Send us a recent dental X-ray, ideally a panoramic (OPG) image, along with a short description of your concern. We prepare a free, personalised treatment plan and quote with no obligation. See typical savings on our pricing page.

What X-ray format do you need?

We accept X-ray images in JPG or PDF format. A panoramic (OPG) X-ray is the most useful because it shows all your teeth and the jawbone in one view. If you only have smaller images, send what you have and we will advise.

What if I do not have a recent X-ray?

That is fine. Send us photos and a description of your situation to start with, and we can arrange imaging once you arrive. A full assessment on site is part of your first visit.

How much can I save compared with home?

Dental tourists in Romania typically save 50-70% versus Western European prices. On larger cases the saving is often enough to cover travel and accommodation. Our pricing page explains where the difference comes from.

How do I pay?

We will confirm the accepted payment methods and currencies with you when we prepare your quote, so there are no surprises on the day.

Language, travel and your stay

Do the dentists and staff speak English?

Yes. English is widely spoken in Romania, and our team speaks English, French and Arabic. Communication is clear and comfortable whatever your first language, and someone will be with you through each step.

I speak French. Can I be treated in French?

Yes. Our staff includes French speakers, so you can discuss your treatment, ask questions and understand your plan entirely in French.

Where is the clinic and how do I get there?

Treatment is based in Bucharest, Romania's capital, which has an international airport with direct flights from many European cities. Once you are in touch, we help you plan the practical side of your trip.

Can you help with accommodation?

We help you plan a comfortable stay and can point you towards suitable places to stay near the clinic. Our aim is a smooth, worry-free visit from arrival to departure.

Can I combine treatment with a holiday?

Absolutely — it is part of what we do. Between appointments you can explore Bucharest and the rest of Romania. We suggest cultural and historical sights to visit and recommend authentic restaurants where you can enjoy traditional Romanian food. Many patients treat their trip as a short break as much as a dental visit. Read more on our blog.

Is Bucharest a good place to visit?

Very much so. Bucharest blends grand architecture, green parks, museums and a lively food scene, and it is a gateway to the wider country — the painted monasteries, medieval Transylvania and the Carpathian mountains are all within reach. We are happy to help you make the most of your stay.

How far in advance should I plan my trip?

The sooner we see your X-ray, the sooner we can plan. Once we know your treatment and how many visits it needs, we can help you time your trip around appointments and flight availability. Get started on the contact page.

Is my personal and medical information kept private?

Yes. Your X-rays and personal details are handled with care and used only to prepare your treatment plan and coordinate your care.
